Detect behaviors missed by video tracking alone.

Video tracking alone has its limitations; what do you do if you need to count the number of licks at a water bottle, detect and classify ultrasound vocalizations, or determine how far an animal runs in an exercise wheel? Video-tracking alone can't help. The answer is AMi, the ANY-maze interface, which makes all this, and much more, not just possible, but easy to achieve. AMi is fully integrated into the ANY-maze software and mixes simplicity of use, with sophisticated capabilities.

Support

Of course AMi is backed by the same "out of this world" technical support as the ANY-maze software, ensuring that you'll have timely, expert assistance no matter how you choose to use AMi.

USB interface to PC
  • USB 1.1 an 2.0 compatible.
  • In bus-powered mode draws 350mA from the USB bus. In self-powered mode draws 28mA from the USB bus.
General purpose input/output ports
  • 16 ports (8 front, 8 rear).
  • TTL/CMOS compatible input / output.
  • Direct connection to AMi photo-beam.
  • Direct connection to on/off switch.
  • Removable connector blocks with screw terminals.
Solid state relay outputs
  • 8 ports
  • Maximum voltage: 40VAC or DC (for higher voltages, see AMi Add-ons).
  • Maximum current: 1A
  • These ports have built in snubber circuits and can be used to switch inductive loads such as motors.
  • Removable connector blocks with screw terminals.
Speakers
  • 4 independent ports.
  • Play any format sound file for which a codec is installed on your computer.
  • Native format: 11.025 KHz 8-bit mono. Sound files are converted internally to this format.
  • 64 step software controllable volume.
  • 1.4W output into an 8 ohm load.
  • When using speakers the AMi power supply must be used.
Digital input/output port
  • 8 bit TTL/CMOS compatible port.
  • Individual bits can be set as inputs or outputs.
  • 1 strobe bit.
  • Port can be written or read under software control (i.e. depending on the situation in the test).
Analogue inputs
  • 4 independent ports.
  • Signal: 0 – 16V, DC – 500Hz
  • Software selectable amplification : x1, x2, x4, x5, x8, x10, x16, x32
  • Sampling frequency: 2KHz
  • ADC resolution : 10 bits
  • Minimum resolution: 0.5mV (at x32 gain)
  • Each port is connected to a removable connector blocks with screw terminals and to a BNC connector.
Analogue outputs
  • 2 independent ports
  • Output signal: 0 – 4.096V, DC – 500Hz
  • Software selectable FSO, 2.048V or 4.096V.
  • Maximum output current per port : 4mA
  • DAC: 12 bit.
  • Minimum resolution :0.5mV (x1 gain), 1mV (x2 gain)
  • Ports can output the animal’s position in real time as a ratio of FSO. Port 1 outputs X coordinate, port 2 outputs Y coordinate.
  • Ports can output various signals under software control (i.e. depending on the situation in the test).
  • Removable connector blocks with screw terminals.
Ultra-sound microphone input
  • 1 input
  • Frequency range: 16 – 66 KHz
  • ADC: 7 bit
  • Software detects occurrences of vocalisations, their frequency, power and duration.
  • Note: Microphone is not supplied as standard
Radio-frequency remote control
  • 5-button mini remote control.
  • Up to 8 independent remote controls can be used with one AMi, giving up to 40 buttons.
  • Remote control can be used as a test control switch within ANY-maze.
  • Range: Line of sight, 150 feet. Through walls 30 feet (typical).
Sensors
  • AMi supports a sensor 'network'.
  • Any mix of up to 8 sensor devices can be connected to a single AMi.
  • AMi has 2 sensor ports. Devices can be daisy chained, or splitter cables can be used to create more ports.
  • Maximum overall network length: 180 feet
There are currently two sensor devices available:

Light sensor (lux meter)

  • Range: 0.1 – 10,000 lux.
  • Update frequency: 1Hz

Temperature sensors

  • Range: -10°C to 80°C
  • Update frequency: 1Hz

Note: Macintosh Operating Systems are not supported.
